When there's a really bad, really obvious, really dangerous infectious disease spreading, people stop listening to government officials. And so I think there was this concern early on with COVID that the government in order to sort of prevent that panic and loss of trust seems to have downplayed things. They actually do have these market observable exponential effects on how disease is going to behave in the community. We're seeing all of these consequences of how COVID is still affecting our lives even if it wasn't still transmitting.
