Mamie phipps clark founded the north side center for child development in harlem, an organization that sought to provide mental health services for black children. She ran northside until she retired in 19 79 and died of lung cancer in 19 83. Many historical accounts don't give mami due credit, often only mentioning kenneth's role in the duel. But kenneth made sure to credit mami, making clear the doll test was an extension of her master's thesis. Today, one of the black dolls was on display at the brownvee board of education national historic site in Kansas.
