What Has China Taken From All This?

China has been sending troops into peacekeeping missions to get their troops used to operating outside China's borders. It hasn't actually done anything much operational beyond taking part in anti-piracy operations, and it has a base in Djibouti. I think that China will favor an approach which is much more like grey zone warfare. Twenty years on from the invasion of Iraq, its lessons continue to unfold. The challenges of this century may test us and our leaders to the limit. And often there will be no alternative to a choice of horrors.
