Is China's Zero COVID Policy Successful?
The Amokron variant is much more contagious and the vaccines that most Chinese people have been inoculated with are not as effective against Amokron. So we're seeing a new surge in cases now on Sunday. There were more than 39,000 cases reported and that was the fourth consecutive day of a record number of new infections in a day. China also just approved the Pfizer vaccine for use in China, but only for foreigners. And I think it comes back to this issue of the zero COVID policy in China being politicized and it being a point of national pride.
