Alzeimer's Disease Detection in Living People

Scientist at imperial college london published a paper describing a machine learning algorithm they developed to aid diagnosis of alteimers disease. The team adapted an algorithm that had been developed to classify cancer tumors, but instead trained it on archived mri scans from more than 400 patients who had either early or late stage alteimer disease. And in their paper, they said it accurately detected aleimer's disease in 98 % of the cases they tried, and could distinguish early and late stage in 79 % of cases.
