Mao's First Trip in an Airplane
After the Japanese surrender, Mao was invited down to Chongqing for talks. Joe and Lai were given the job of dealing with General George Marshall. As soon as Japan surrendered, Mao gave the order to mobilize the Red Army against Jiang. A month after it was all over, Mao set up the Northeast Bureau and put Pung-Jun in charge there.
