Medicalization of Blackness

The term medicalization comes out of a number of things. I found that when i was reading about issues related to race and health, im particularly thinking about race and health in the era of slavery in the americas. And so kind of combining these two sort of different like a thought process, the you saying, ok, it seems to me that physicians are trying to make legible what they are observing about black people's bodies. Their clearly doing this in a clinical way. Theyre thinking about cure, of treatment. But i also recognize that there was something at play. This is a process of creating new knowledge, of applying it, of circulating it, of sharing it on.
