The Beginning of the Byzantine Empire
The last emperor of the west, romulus augustus, was killed and replaced by a king of italy. The people that took over still considered the empire as an ongoing concern. Four 76 is also sometimes used as a starting date for the byzantine empire too. It coincides with the end of the empire in the west. So if this empire was really just the roman empire, why do we call it theByzantine empire?
