The ad industry is so black boxy and so opaque, there's been attempts to regulateat the federal level. The brand safety tack has wrought a lot more harm because of how over zealous they are with it. It works inasmuch as brands are able to wash their hands of the worst parts of the internet but it's not working really at all. Even though the tech is supposed to self regulate, these problems keep on persisting. And i think that was like the straw that broke the camel’s back for me.
