What Motivated the Marines to Join the Marine Corps?

Spencer: A lot of them join in the immediate aftermath of Pearl Harbor. I suppose you could say there's an element of wanting to hit back against the Japanese get revenge for what they saw as a sneak attack. The best way I can compare it to anything recently, of course, is the 9-11 attacks. This was a feeling that US territory was under assault and that they wanted to do their bit for their country.
