Northern Ireland had an election back in May. You will remember it because Sinn Féin made history, becoming the first nationalist party to win the right to hold the office of first minister. If they haven't formed a government by one minute past midnight on Thursday evening into Friday morning, then legislatively the government has very little option but to call another election. So that could be one of Rishi Sunak's government's first big acts is to call an election in Northern Ireland if they don't reach an agreement by Friday.
