The Polyol Switch and the Effects of Stress on the Metabolism

Bob: You mentioned that if you eat high glycemic foods, you could turn on this pathway, polyol pathway where your body then actually makes its own fructose. Bob: In a stressful state, are you going to be turning on this polyol switch and storing fat instead of using ATP for energy? Bob: The switch does a number of things that does store fat and it produces less energy. But it also makes the cells require less energy. So everything, the metabolism slows down. If we can slow down the metabolism, then the cell has a better way, a better chance to survive.
