New Winchelsea - The Wine of the World
Wine was one of the most valuable and widely traded commodities in mediaeval europe. Wine came from gascony, a dominion of the english crown for a long time. Gascony became this great vast wine monoculture. The men of winchelsea were the very worst of them all. There's about 30 surviving wine sellers but it's thought there may have been as many as 70 in its heyday.
