The B B C and the Government in Northern Ireland

When margaret thatcher and the government got wind of this programme, leon britton, the home secretary, writes an open letter. The board of governors don't traditionally view a programme in advance of its being screened. They demanded the right to see this programme before it was screened, and they hated it. There's a rumbling behind the scenes. It has to be re edited with new sequence put in. It is eventually broadcast after a strike by b b c journalists. And it really represents a kind of souring of relations, not just between the b b c and the government, but between the director general and his of professional programme makers.
