The pound popped seven tenths of a % against a dollar, currently sitting at a buck 16 per pound. The british currency has not treated at such weak levels on a regular basis since the mid 19 eighties. In energy markets, brent crewt retreated, falling two point nine % to 92 dollars and 97 cents a barrel. Meanwhile, bench mark european gas prices fell by nine point seven %, after jumping by as much as a third on monday. Gold is currently trading at one thousand 721 dollars per troy ounce, relatively flat over the last 24 hours.
