The Unknown Warrior at Berca
In the 19th century archaeologists started to excavate what was a very significant Viking trading post in Sweden. They found an intact and impressive warriors grave that was full of all of the sorts of things that if you were an archaeologist would be your dream to find in a grave. Nobody ever checked whether or not the warrior was a man or a woman, because of course it was a warrior it must be a man.
