George III's Inbred Problem

George III suffered from an inherited metabolic disorder called Porphyria. The disease made his urine turn bluish purple and cause bouts of insanity. It didn't affect his fertility though, he and Queen Charlotte had 15 children. He was prone to babbling delusions and later in life he was subjected to extreme treatments,. including straight jackets, leaching and ice baths to calm him down. In 1820 he died, deaf, blind and mad.
