The story of lolita is based on the sally horner case. The main character, humbert, was inspired to write a book about it after his wife and daughter were killed by an abductor. Humbert wrote that he had done to dolly perhaps what frank, the 50 year old mechanic had done to 11-year-old Sally Horner. But when people ask him, he denies it. He died right before trial. She two months later, on christmas day, she died giving birth to her child, who was a son. And that is how the book ends.
