The Apathetic Response to the Holocaust
A conference that was held in Evio in 1938, before the Holocaust gets going, is very indicative of Western and outside attitudes to the Jewish predicament. Nothing is done, nothing is arranged, there's no real provision made for those Jews to get out. The bottom line is basically low level anti-Semitism that motivates that response. They're just kicking the can down the road, someone else will pick it up, it's fine. It's only the Jews, they're just complaining, like they always do it. And at the same time, as I say in the book, there was a lot that would have been possible to alleviate Jewish suffering even in 43.
