How important is the Franco-Prussian War viewed in France and Germany today? I mean, is it something the historians of those two countries are still very much interested in? Did they still study the war in great detail? We just passed the 150th anniversary. And so that gave rise to a number of interesting colloquia and books and interest in the conflict. But overall, it's taken a back seat and that's not a bad thing. It's an important conflict. It's a conflict that shaped the world. A silence allows for more peace over a loud celebration that leads to anger any day.
