listeners will be familiar with the tensions that arrive or develop during the period known as the Cold War. I try to shift our perspective so even though I focus on that story I begin in the town in this tiny little rural town in western Cuba where the missiles are first discovered and I tell the story from the perspective of the people there. The Bay of Pigs is an interesting story but it's also a way of highlighting that no invasion can land on an empty beach even something that you know in this case literally wasn't an empty beach.
