I Love to Work as a Journalist
It was not easy to work as a journalist in Germany, writes Mark Whitaker. The east german secret police file had 27 file boxes full of reports and three and a half thousand pages. If you wrote a story that they didn't like, you'd get hauled into the foreign ministry or thrown out. But still, despite all that you could as a journalist, you just ferreted around and got stories.
