The War in Ukraine Is the Good Fight, Right?
The war in Ukraine has served as some sort of absolution for the war on terror, but an absolution with no real reckoning. There are remarkable stories about American vets disillusioned with having been occupiers in Iraq and Afghanistan describing it as almost therapeutic to be fighting against rather than as part of an unjust invasion. "There's all sorts of ways in which it kind of wanders and whitewashes this very complex history," says Julian Zelizer.
