The word try is different for depending on the context. It's like do you want to have, for example, if I say, niao chan yi shama. Do you want to taste it? Right? But for Chinese chan specifically meaning try some food. Ji ko means something that's forbidden or banned from being eaten in a certain way. For example, cilantro and ginger aren't allowed because they're considered bad ingredients.
