The Inequality of Man
Savage man must be fond of sleep, and sleep lightly like other animals. His touch and his taste must be extremely coarse and blunt. One chooses by instinct, the other by an act of liberty. The beast cannot deviate from the rules that have been prescribed to it. Man often deviates from the rules laid down for him to his prejudice. It is in this manner a disillusioned man run into excesses which bring on fevers and death itself. When nature ceases to speak the will still continues to dictate.
