The Blank Slate Mind
The human nature aspect behind what happened then is still present the modern day. I think one of the problems in modern science has been this extremely strong reluctance to give up the idea of the blank slate mind. Even neuroscience, which is the field that should be least affected by this mentality, still tends to think of even in science. There's a political will to not believe that because if you believe that human nature is all social it can be changed.
