A conglomerate is essentially a holding company that sits above a number of different subsidiaries. It can exist in almost every different or any different industry. The traditional old-school conglomerate, and I can't really read an example is Swire and Jardines. If Kathy Pacific is not doing well one year, then maybe it will get once a balance by Swire Properties doing very well the next year.
