According to Kyle, Corey had shared several videos with him. Many of them encouraged violent acts against non-believers and anyone who did not adhere to the Islamic faith. Originally, Corey had intended to go to work that day, but decided instead to call Kyle. When he made this call, Kyle was downtown celebrating a friend's birthday party at a local pizzeria. Within an hour Corey showed up.
