Krastus and the Parthians - The Battle of Parthia
Cratus led a considerable army in into Parthia, and he had some initial successes on the border west of the Euphrates. He didn't really know what he was fighting against. What Krastus faced was an army with almost no legionaries of the kind that he recognized. It had enormous armed men on huge horses, the Greeks called catafracts,. The Romans were familiar with archers and cavalry, but they were secondary in the Roman way of thinking.
