The Shea of Lebanon - A History of the Shea in the Middle East
The shea have been in lebanon for a long time, really. from the very beginning of islam. But interestingly, it's what happened in the sixteenth century that formed a lot of the modern lebanisia identity. This has to do with the close connections they formed with sapavid iron. The shia during the ottoman period occupied a mar originalized roll within lebanon. They tended to be poorer and politically disfranchised which formed part of their self understanding in the modern period.
