The Role of Women in the NHS

Mary Rose Colton is a novelist from an all girls boarding school. She also spends the war sort of managing an air raid shelter in London. So her background is one where actually being around a lot of women and being part of almost a kind of regime is very familiar to her. Having a baby in the NHS, even if it's not exactly as you would choose it, is a political and pragmatic choice. But she thinks that if people do this, they're not going to collectively invest in the institution. And actually she sees the role of women like her: To be critics from within.
