The Role of Active Surveillance in Treating RCCs
Mike: Is there a group of patients that you guys have in which you just do nothing for these patients and say, I'm going to just keep imaging them and looking at this RCC? Ahmed: It depends on their overall health. If they are an unhealthy patient that we don't think would be able to tolerate an ablation,whether it's the anesthesia risk or whether it's the ablation risk at all, I'm more in favor of doing the active surveillance because I just do not want to cause any harm to the patient if at all possible.
