The Threat of Global Inequalities
The threat of global equality is the story of the book in a lot of ways. People who benefited from those inequalities had to come up with some strategy and they had to synthesize those into 20th century. And Palo Alto really becomes that answer for how do you maintain inequality at a time when the world system is totally integrated. How do you win a war when some schlub can pick up a gun and shoot you? Well you hide in a bunker in America and you fire a cruise missile at them, right? That's the answer to this problem of the equality of all people.
