The Importance of Trend Following

The Black Swan is just this final ferocious push in a market. If we look at some of the major Black Swan events that we can think of, which we'll even leave 2008 out of this one, but if we look at most recently 2011, now a lot of people can say there's no way you could have prepared for a US credit downgrade. What I think is extremely important is that the trend has already been established in a lot of these cases before the Black Swan events materialize. The sad story is that we're actually going to have to do some work here.
