Stanford Bridge was built in 1905 as an athletics ground, with no banking for a crowd. The only bit of the original ground that is still there is a stub of a wall at the north extent where the museum and gymnasium are. To the side of that right at the next to the railway there's a kind of little slice,. a chunk of wall there that was built in 1906, but not by Chelsea. It was built by the our neighbours, the, the, it was a hospital, the western fever hospital, I think it's called. There's a brilliant letter saying that they built that wall because fans used to stream off away from the ground and walk through the hospital
