During the early 1620s then, this loosely organized Donglin group emerged as a dominant faction at the Tianxie court. But its power did not go unchallenged and from time to time it too suffered significant political reversals. Zhou Jiamo and Liu Yi Qing resigned after having been repeatedly impeached by officials said to have been acting on orders of Wei Zhong Xian.
