The Perfection of Allah's Shariya

Why wasn't alcohol prohibited for earlier ummas? There's no explicit reason given in our texts. Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la says, of course that this is the religion that will be manifest over all other. So because of this Allah gave us a Shariya that is the most perfect. And he might have allowed imperfections in other Shariya's maybe because the people were not qualified or they didn't deserve those perfections. Sometimes it was intentionally made difficult as a punishment for them,. As would happen with the Bani Isra'il. But apart from this we do not know.
