What Is Queer Buchnes?
Black performers were not allowed to perform in variety. Weren't allowed to go t see variety shows. Almost no black performers, i think none, but i've only seen the archives. Black women are were historically removed from even the contexts of true womanhood and ladyship. But these types of looks, specifically, were a way to telegraph that they were queer. And so really, this type of performed slick masculinity was what i call a counter identification drag practice. It was intended to signal, im queer. I'm not trying to look like a straight man. I am not trying to looking like a, like a sisgender lady.
