As a freelancer, almost everything you do that can be related to the business is a tax write off. Microsoft and Google paid zero federal taxes because they had reinvested that money back in developing their business,. So operating as a business has enormous tax advantages. If I make $10,000 extra, I'm still paying 37% of that or actually a lot less as a freelancer.
