Doctor Mary Edwards Walker

Mary Edwards walker was the only woman in history to receive the congressional medal honor. Mary pushed back against traditional feminine dress, opting for trousers instead of long skirts and petticoats. While serving as an assistant surgeon with the 50 second ohio infantry, she crossed enemy lines and was detained by confederates for espionage. In 18 77, almost 60 years after her death, president jimmy carter posthumously restored mary's medal of honor which sits on display in the pentagon.
