Khadija had been married twice up until that point in time. Her second husband was a rich merchant and he didn't have any siblings. So when he died, the money automatically went to Khadija. In those days, women did not inherit. That was the general rule. Still, she managed to maintain her dignity and maintain a good amount of wealth but never as much as she actually deserved.
