The Pathanon: A Mythic Cultural Monument

The pathanon has an uncanny capacity to expose the visitor. Evelyn War said it looks like a mild stilton cheese after you've poured port into it. Virginia Woolf goes to the Acropolis and says, my goodness me doesn't just look like Cornwall. So what it's doing in making us react to it is showing us something about ourselves  and revealing the soft underbelly of us.
