The Rise and Fall of OPEC in the 20th Century

Juliano Garavini teaches international history at Roma Tree University in Rome. He's the author of After Empires, European integration, decolonization and the challenge from the global south 1957 to 1986. The key ideas that were the premise for the creation of OPEC were basically the ideas of Juan Pablo Perazalfonso, who was the oil minister of Venezuela. And Alfonso eventually wrote a book called the Oil Pentagon whereby he kind of formalized these key five concepts that were built at the core of thecreation of OPEC.
