What Would the Higher Classes Have Doed for Entertainment?
There's lots of different things and it also depended on where you lived as well. So if you lived in somewhere like London or Bath they would have been a lot more options available to you. This is really a period especially leading off from the 18th century into the 19th when leisure and pleasure and kind of in public spaces is really developed. There's a lovely passage in one of Jane Austen's letters where she talks about going to exhibitions after writing Pride and Prejudice. She's trying to find a Jane Bennett, a Lizzie Bennett, a Mr Darcy and Mr Bingley which is one of my favourite things I've read that she's written.
