Do You Use Close-Ups Too Soon?

With some inexperienced editors I've seen they tend to go to a close-up right away or they use them a lot. And so I thought that in your case you were very careful about where you chose to put those close-ups. For exactly the reason you pointed out that the close-up is kind of the nuclear button of the scene. You have to choose your moments carefully. films are full of mismatches, it's just like any magic trick, it's how visible those moments are or are not for the audience.
