Shinzo Abbe's Death Is a Reminder of the Contradictions That Have Entangled Post War Japan

Shinzo abbe was the most dominant political figure in Japan. He embodied so many of the contradictions that have entangled post war japan. His greatest ambition was to get rid of the pacifist clause in his country's constitution. To me, it is the post war story of a peaceful, democratic country,. admired for its culture and praised for its generosity, that japan should celebrate. Instead, mister abbe seemed fix ed on the past. After all, this is a democratic country, there is no reason why japan should not have the same ability to defend itself as britain or france.
