The Costs of Transition
There was a sense in which a lot of things around me were changing, both in my parents andt my grandmother. My mother's properties were beginning to be chased because there was an effort to restitute some lands to the previous property owners. And so there were all these kinds of conflicts as well to navigate. But i don't think anyone in albania would have said that they preferred the old system, but they also wouldn't have said that things were looking much better.
