Bina Ramani's Private Party
The Tamarind Court did not have a liquor license yet. Bina Ramani had applied for a license but it hadn't yet been granted. All alcohol being served on the premises that night was being sold and served illegally. But there was a simple workaround to serving alcohol at an establishment without a license. Call it a private party. By every standard the restaurant bar operated that night like any other way. There was no private party. It's a rather small crime with the final rupees 2019-99 money but it exposes an attitude towards running a business. An attitude that lacks integrity towards a business where one of India's most gut-wrenching murders was going to take place.
