Is There a Pop Eye Joke About 3D Printing?
3D printing hasn't yet reached the level of resolution required to form tiny vessels, but capillaries. Scientists in Harvard and at Worcester Polytechnic Institute have used a particular detergent to decellularise spinach leaves. So you take away all the spinach matter and you're left with a frame which can be implanted directly into the body for transplant surgery. The history of surgery is very exciting for me because it enables us to ask very deep philosophical questions that we all kind of ask ourselves at one point or another.
