The Russians Mined the Kakhofka Dam in Crimea

This dam was built by the Soviets and opened in 1956. It's part of a series of six dams, reservoirs, and power plants that span across the Niepro River. The purpose of this dam was to first prevent flooding; second is to generate electricity through hydropower,. Third is to regulate water flow for agricultural irrigation and industrial use  and municipal water supply.
